Another gem from our friend Alfred DiBlasi on YouTube.com. From his intro:
"You will enjoy this very short clip entitled "SpoonMan" from the QuickTime Version 1.0 CD-ROM. This is vintage, 1990 footage.
The original clip was filmed at a resolution of 160 x 120, 8 bit color, and 8 bit audio. I did clean up the audio a bit so you have a better listening experience.
I don't know why, but I've watched this clip over and over. See if it has the same effect on you!"

10 Years of 'Think Different': The Ad Campaign that Restored Apple's Reputation
April 11, 2007
Another great new article by Tom Hormby at Low End Mac.
"Apple's brand was in bad shape in the Fall of 1997. Steve Jobs had orchestrated a palace coups against Gil Amelio and had slashed budgets. Unfortunately, despite the momentous changes within Apple, it still had a staid image. Steve Jobs commissioned the 'Think Different' campaign in August and the first ads were ready in September. Even ten years after the debut, "Think Different" is still one of most remembered ad campaigns ever."

Using Apple's Lisa for Real Work
April 09, 2007
Ted Hodges at Low End Mac seems to be in love with Lisa! His new article begins:
"Ever since I can remember, I have loved computers. For the last ten years I've loved the Mac OS, but now I seem to have found something better - the Lisa Office System (LOS).
I know that LOS is old and outdated with no upgrade path whatsoever, but something else has drawn me to it: Its functionality.
It doesn't crash, I don't have to remember to save my work, I can turn it off with all of my documents open, and I can continue working right where I left off when I turn it back on.
LOS isn't without it faults: It's slow (very slow at times), doesn't support color, can't really use any other software except for the 7/7 suite, and can't go online. (It can do some of those things under MacWorks, but MacWorks isn't LOS.)"

The 50 Best Tech Products of All Time
April 06, 2007
PC World has chosen it's top 50 tech products, and while we're not big fans of top lists, on this one the Apple II is ranked at #2! Other Apple products can be found throughout the list.
"From breakthrough hardware to time-honored software, we salute those amazing products that changed technology--and our lives--forever. The Beatles. Citizen Kane. Muhammad Ali. Many have laid claim to being the "best ever" in their respective fields of work, but only one can top the list. And the same is true when it comes to technology."

CGI Story: The Development of 3D Computer Graphics, 1974-94
April 04, 2007
Another great new article by Tom Hormby at Low End Mac.
"Pixar history began more than ten years before Steve Jobs bought the group (and its patents) from George Lucas in 1985. Proto-Pixar was actually started as a research group by engineers from academia and Xerox PARC. They wanted to create a computer generated feature film (twenty years before Toy Story). Unfortunately, the computing power would be too expensive, so they moved to LucasFilm and were eventually spun off as Pixar."
