Why Woz's TV Spot for Auto Body Shop is Wonderful

July 24, 2009
An article at cnet news by Chris Matyszczyk on the Wonderful Wizard of Woz.
It begins:
"I saw a homeless man Thursday morning.
On the bench where he was sitting, he had propped a sign. It read: 'IDIOTS TAKE STUPID TOO SERIOUS.'
When I looked at this sign, I immediately thought of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak's latest foray into the public consciousness.
You see, Woz seems to care what you think. But that will never stop from doing whatever it is he finds amusing that day. Or that hour. Or even that second.
So while you might at first be surprised that he has chosen to front a TV spot for the Car West Auto Body Shop of Danville, Calif., please consider that Woz doesn't find his participation surprising at all."

Apple II: The World Catches On

July 16, 2009
A new article by By Mark Richards and John Alderman at Gizmodo about the Apple II and The Computer History Museum.
It begins:
"Spurred on by the small but encouraging success of the original Apple, the two Steves, Wozniak and Jobs, retreated to the garage (Jobs') to craft the personal computer that was the most convincing case yet that such an item could have a mass market. The Apple II started where the Apple I left of, namely, with a case. It didn't look like an object dropped from a starship or developed in a military lab. It had a familiar, prosaic form of an elongated beige typewriter, though additions like the television monitor and the cassette player used to store programs made it look a little like a college-dorm entertainment center."

MacWrite, MacPaint in Box with Manuals, Software
From the description:
"The box and contents are in overall good condition. The box itself has bend creases in the box bottom and some stains on the box top. The top also has some bend marks.

The MacPaint manual, copyright 1983, before the days of website hosting, is in excellent condition with normal surface wear marks. The same is true for the MacWrite manual, copyright 1984. The MacPaint disk, copyright 1984, is in good and readable condition. The original MacWrite disk is missing, but there is a working back up. The same is true for the MacWrite-MacPaint Tour disk. There is also a back up copy of the MacPaint disk. The cassette tape, A Guided Tour of MacWrite-MacPaint is in good condition.

The tape and floppy disks are guaranteed to be working on arrival. I will only accept a return if these items are not working on arrival. If they are not working when they arrive, you must contact me immediately by e-mail. Everything must be shipped back within three days with original packing materials, with delivery confirmation, with insurance for the sale price, and at the buyer’s expense. Baby Bytes, Fiesta Movement and the PowerBook 145!

July 09, 2009
Bridget O’Neill, a Seattle resident and Fiesta Movement “agent,” recently made a funny video in which she reviewed the 1992 Macintosh Powerbook 145 laptop.

Bridget plays all the characters in the video, which starts off with a mother explaining to her young daughter the concept of a gigabyte and then reminiscing about the “good old days,” at which point the video morphs into a cheesy comic-book review of the Powerbook 145, complete with ‘90s-era hair and fashion.

Bridget is an experienced new media artist and a participant in the Fiesta Movement (www.FiestaMovement.com), a six-month social media campaign in which 100 vibrant and active people across the U.S. are traveling as “agents” in theme-based “missions” in their own 2011 Ford Fiestas. They share their missions with the public via social media, such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.
