Apple Computer Porsche
Today, a 1983 Apple Gift Catalog was added to The Mothership Advertising and Brochure Gallery, and as we were looking through those pages, one of the most striking images is that of a Porsche race car, sponsored by Apple. Well, with a little investigation we have found a source where that 1980 1/24 scale model kit is still available!

Sculley's Dream: The Story Behind the Newton
A new article by the very talented Tom Hormby at LowEndMac.com.

"Newton was started as a project to out Mac the Macintosh. It was
started as a renegade venture to help Apple survive after the
Macintosh became obsolete. Instead, it created an overhyped device
marketed as a DayPlanner replacement rather than a constant companion."

Signing Party
This story by Andy Hertzfeld at the great Apple history resource, Folklore.org, recounts the signing of the inside of the original Mac case by the Mac team. It Begins:
"he component of the Macintosh hardware that had the longest lead time was the hard tool that molded its distinctive plastic case. After tweaking the case design for more than six months and building a small production run of 50 units with a soft-tooled case, the final design was ready to go out for hard tooling toward the end of February 1982, so we could meet the ship date that we were aiming for at the time, which was January 1983."
