NewerTech 'RoadTrip!' FM Transmitter Introduced
NEWERTECH AND OWC INTRODUCE THE 'ROADTRIP!' FM
TRANSMITTER FOR THE APPLE IPOD DIGITAL MUSIC PLAYER

'RoadTrip!' an affordable iPod accessory also compatible with most personal audio players

WOODSTOCK, Ill. - August 18, 2004 - Newer Technology, Inc. (NewerTech) and Other World Computing (OWC) today announced the full availability of the NewerTech 'RoadTrip!' FM transmitter, an adapter that allows iPod users to broadcast their favorite audio files from an iPod through a car audio system using the 107.7 FM radio frequency.

The 'RoadTrip!' FM transmitter was first introduced exclusively to readers of the August 6 edition of OWC's "Tips n' Deals" e-newsletter. "Our supply of 'RoadTrip!' transmitters is now high enough that I'm comfortable making it available for everyone so they too can enjoy reliable iPod listening via a car's FM radio for a remarkably low price," said Larry O'Connor, president of Other World Computing.

The 'RoadTrip!' FM iPod transmitter connects to a vehicle's 12-volt cigarette lighter and has a 3.5-millimeter stereo jack that is compatible with all four generations of iPods, the iPod mini and most personal MP3 and audio players. The 'RoadTrip!' is available immediately at www.macsales.com for $19.99.

"The 'RoadTrip!' FM transmitter is a perfect balance of high quality sound and low cost, which allows iPod lovers to play their music through their car's FM radio - any car - any FM radio, with ease," O'Connor said. "In testing the 'RoadTrip!' we found the sound quality equal to or even better than other similar products, but with exceptional broadcast stability - unlike other products that did not consistently provide a good signal to the radio. Many FM iPod transmitters give users a real headache just trying to get a good frequency lock, but the 'RoadTrip!' locks clean to FM 107.7 and doesn't suffer the signal bleed or drift that just takes the fun out of any trip with your iPod."

More information on pricing, ordering and availability for NewerTech's 'RoadTrip!' can be found online at www.macsales.com/roadtrip or by calling 1-800-275-4576.

The Low-End Mac Portable Gaming Page
Here is a page outlining which games can be played on older PowerBooks - in particular, the author's trusty PowerBook 1400! Interesting stuff, especially for Chi-Chi, who happens to have just purchased a 1400c on eBay, and is in the process of loading some games right now! (There are other types of software besides games, Chi-Chi).

The Mothership Crew Takes a Needed Break!
It's been about 54 years since we've taken a vacation break. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but it sure feels like it! So next week, 8/9/04 - 8/13/04, the entire Mothership crew is going on a cruise! Or camping...or something like that. Maybe we'll just sit around in our underwear watching Columbo reruns. Vintage Apple News, and the rest of The Mothership probably won't be updated next week, unless we go crazy from the inactivity. Play nice while we're gone!

XPostFacto 3.0b8
XPostFacto 3.0b8 is a utility which helps to install and boot Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and Darwin on certain unsupported systems. It works with desktop Macs back to the 7300, and PowerBooks such as the 2400 and 3400. Give it a try, and maybe your older maching can experience the happy goodness that is OS X!
